Farmers...why am I writing about farmers? Well, you'll see. Farmers do a lot o work that a lot of us probably don't even realize! It actually takes a lot to be a farmer. A friend of mine is a farmer, and to hear the process before you can even start farming is...is overwhelming! And I don't even farm! First, you have to be good to go financially and to have money set aside for repairs. Because sometimes you need to fix a lot of machinery. My dad knows all about that. He's always fixing something for farmers. Then you have to predict the right time to tear up the ground, and when to seed, and when to irrigate. You have to do a lot of pipe moving and so on. It's really almost an endless pile of work. But what am I trying to say? The end product. Harvest. That's right. When you start to see the crops come up, and not just crops, but a good crop...the work is all worth it, the tireless waiting and working pays off. Knowing that you raised a good crop that'll feed the world! It's makes you feel good, it makes it all worth it. That's why farmers farm every year faithfully. God is a farmer...preparing and prepping to plant fields of crops, to send the harvested fruits of his labor out into the world to feed the hungry. It's worth it to him. And it's worth it to us as believer's as his workers to help pant and replenish the earth. What a way to life. What a most rewarding job. Farming is a calling...a gift from God. It's not for everyone, but to everyone who is called to farm...it is a wonderful way to serve the Lord.
"Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." -Mathew 9:37-38 (ESV)
